PROLIFERATING DROSSCAPE

Evaluating Wasted Land Within Central Manchester

'Drosscape' is a term Berger uses to describe the wasted landscape. Much of the wasted landscape is the result of urbanization bolstered by contemporary industrial production models, also influenced by economics and consumerism. Actual waste such as municipal solid waste, sewage, scrap metal, etc. Abandoned locations such as abandoned and/or contaminated sites, or wasteful locations such as large parking lots, retail malls, etc. Wasteland is not a negative perspective. There is no need to avoid its generation because the formation of wasteland is natural and organic. There is no growth without waste. Our focus is to understand the wasteland and seek opportunities in waste.
